In 2008, our first floorball projects were launched in Ukraine. During the following years, we conducted six more two- to three-week team outreaches in Ukraine. In 2019, the "Floorball Development Center" (FDC) was launched in Ukraine. Here, two cohorts of 20 coaches* each were trained as floorball instructors during three years in modules (twice a year). The first of these two FDC cohorts would have graduated last fall, but this was not possible due to the Corona situation. The floorball movement in Ukraine has expanded rapidly and healthily. As Floorball for Street Children, we continue to support the teams with equipment and hold regional conferences and coach trainings.
The contact to the local people is close, it is known where our friends are at the moment in Ukraine and how they are doing. The country coordinator on the ground tries to keep the network together, organize emergency aid across the board and is in contact with most of the coaches.
In this difficult situation, our thoughts are with the approximately 3000 Ukrainian floorball players, coaches and all other people in Ukraine.
